The Fort Bend ISD Board Leadership Academy provides an in-depth look at FBISD for community members looking to become informed leaders and advocates for our students.

2026-2027 Cohort
The District plans to facilitate its successful Board Leadership Academy during the 2027 legislative session, giving participants access to the lawmakers who shape state policy. The academy is open to all community members who live within the Fort Bend ISD attendance boundaries, and the application will be available starting Monday, August 17, 2026, for the 2026-27 school year. Program participants finish the academy with not only a better sense of how the state’s governing body affects FBISD but also how the District operates.
Between October and April, participants will attend an opening retreat, and four evening training sessions on topics such as finance and budget; curriculum, teaching and learning; planning and accountability; legislative issues/advocacy; and collaborative communities.
Plans are also underway for a future legislative engagement opportunity, with additional details to be shared as plans are finalized.

Board Leadership Academy Online Application
Members of the Fort Bend ISD community who are interested in learning more about FBISD are invited to apply for the Fort Bend ISD Board Leadership Academy. During the seven-month-long program, participants will be required to attend the opening retreat and will only be able to miss one training session in order to graduate from the program. They will also be required to attend one Board of Trustees Regular Board meeting and one Agenda Review Workshop meeting of their choice. The cohort will also be invited to a full-day road trip around the district and one-day trip to the Texas Capitol.
To apply, community members should fill out an online form. Applications will be accepted until September 4th, and those who are selected will be notified via email on October 5th. Tuition is $125 due upon notification of acceptance.
