Clements High School Girls Tennis Makes History at UIL State Tennis Tournament

FORT BEND ISD (May 18, 2026) – Clements High School girls tennis made history at the UIL State Tennis Tournament in San Antonio, with two doubles teams bringing home both the state title and runner-up honor. The achievement marked the first UIL Girls Doubles state championship and runner-up finish in both FBISD and Clements history.

Senior Jastine Escamos and junior Angela Shu captured the UIL Girls Doubles State Championship after defeating teammates Natasha Rosseland and Isabella Young in the finals, creating an all-Clements championship matchup at the state tournament.

Escamos also became a back-to-back UIL state champion after winning the mixed doubles state title in 2025. She will continue her tennis career at Southeastern University.

Head Coach Brett Bernstein said the success was built through the teams’ daily commitment to practicing together throughout the season.

“Really proud of the way both teams competed throughout the tournament,” he said. “Before we knew it, we were facing each other in the finals.”

Before the finals match started, Bernstein met with both teams individually.

“I told both of them I wanted them to play to win and to give their best effort to represent Clements with pride,” he said.
