Teaching and Learning in FBISD

Fort Bend ISD is committed to coordinating the written, taught and tested curriculum. To accomplish the District goals and objectives, the curriculum and instructional program will:

  1. Provide viable curriculum for each content area
  2. Provide training and support for high-impact, high-yield instruction
  3. Provide and support the use of high quality assessments

Written, Taught and Tested Curriculum

Fort Bend ISD provides a clear and connected approach to curriculum through what students are expected to learn (written curriculum), what teachers teach in the classroom (taught curriculum), and how student learning is measured (tested curriculum).

The written curriculum—made up of curriculum guides, lesson plans, and district plans such as literacy and math—is available online through the District’s curriculum system and is aligned to the EH-Local policy, where families will be able to access and review the official curriculum guidelines.

In the classroom, teachers use these resources along with state standards and district-developed pacing to guide daily instruction. Student learning is then measured through classroom tests, district assessments, and state assessments, all aligned to what is taught. These results help teachers and administrators understand student progress, identify trends, and adjust instruction to better support every learner.
