Mentors for New Teachers: TAPP Program

Two teachers discussing

Mentoring a first-year teacher is one of the most meaningful investments an experienced educator can make — in a colleague, in the profession, and in the students they will teach for years to come.

What You Can Expect

About the TAPP Mentor Role
  • TAPP is an Induction and Mentorship Program that supports the district's goals of recruiting, developing, and retaining high-quality teachers
  • TAPP Mentors provide individualized, job-embedded support to a teacher who is new to the profession
  • TAPP Mentors guide their mentee in campus culture, policies, and procedures

Job-Embedded Learning & Support
  • Mentors participate in job-embedded learning experiences aligned to TAPP goals and new teacher needs
  • Support is individualized — focused on what your specific mentee needs throughout the year
  • Resources and guidance from the FBISD Induction & Mentorship team are available throughout the year

How to Become a TAPP Mentor
  • Campus administrators submit a recommendation for teachers who desire to serve as TAPP Mentors
  • If you are interested in becoming a TAPP Mentor, start the conversation with your campus administrator
  • For additional information, contact the FBISD Induction & Mentorship team directly
