Admin New Teacher Support: TAPP Program

Two teachers discussing

The success of every new teacher on your campus starts with the culture you build and the mentors you champion.

What You Can Expect

Your Role in TAPP
  • Campus administrators are essential partners in the TAPP Induction and Mentorship Program
  • TAPP is an Induction and Mentorship Program that supports the district's goals of recruiting, developing, and retaining high-quality teachers
  • TAPP Mentors provide individualized, job-embedded support to a teacher who is new to the profession
  • As a campus leader, you help build and sustain the conditions that make first-year teacher success possible

Recommending TAPP Mentors
  • Campus administrators identify and submit recommendations for experienced teachers who desire to serve as TAPP mentors
  • Selecting the right mentor is one of the most impactful decisions you make in support of a new teacher
  • For questions about the mentor recommendation process, contact the FBISD Induction & Mentorship team

Supporting New Teachers on your Campus
  • The district provides mentors, ongoing learning opportunities, and individualized campus support to teachers and leaders
  • Campus administrators reinforce TAPP goals by creating a campus environment where new teachers feel welcomed, supported, and connected
  • Ongoing communication between campus leadership and the Induction & Mentorship team ensures new teachers receive the support they need throughout the year

Campus Leader Support from the OD Team
  • The Induction & Mentorship team partners with campus administrators to ensure TAPP is implemented effectively at every campus
  • Individualized campus support is available to help leaders monitor new teacher progress and mentor effectiveness through regularly scheduled check-ins
  • Campus leaders are encouraged to reach out to the OD team any time additional guidance or resources are needed

Strong campus leadership is the foundation of every successful first year. The Induction & Mentorship team is here to support you in building that foundation — one new teacher at a time.
