Starting a new teaching position is exciting—and it’s important to feel prepared, supported, and connected from day one. FBISD’s new teacher induction program provides structured orientation, campus-based check-ins throughout the first year, and access to a dedicated mentor. You don’t have to figure it out alone.

Every new teacher is paired with a trained mentor through our Teachers Advancing Professional practice (TAPP) Mentorship Program. Our trained mentors are experienced educators who provide coaching, feedback, and serve as a trusted sounding board throughout your early years in the classroom.

FBISD invests in the growth of all teachers by designing two contractual days devoted to professional development as well as job embedded professional learning days throughout the school year. FBISD offers a wide range of professional learning opportunities ranging from state required academies, in-district training, elective workshops, and campus-based PD. These professional learning opportunities exists throughout the school year and across summer months to offer teachers continual growth. Whether you're deepening your content knowledge, improving classroom strategies, or exploring a new area of practice, our PD catalog has something for every teacher at every stage of their career.

Texas's Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) recognizes and rewards highly effective teachers with additional compensation. FBISD participates in TIA, offering teachers the opportunity to earn a designation - Acknowledged, Recognized, Exemplary, or Master - based on their impact in the classroom. If you've ever wondered what it takes to earn a designation or what the financial benefits look like, this is the place to start.

FBISD has partnered with universities across Texas to offer FBISD teachers access to graduate degree programs. Whether you're pursuing a master's in education, educational leadership, curriculum and instruction, or another field, our university partnerships make advanced education more accessible. Coursework is often designed with working teachers in mind.
