Student Teachers
Student Teachers in Fort Bend ISD complete a semester- or year-long clinical experience through their Educator Preparation Program. Working alongside a Cooperating Teacher, they use co-teaching strategies to plan, instruct, assess, and gradually assume greater classroom responsibility.
This full-time, unpaid experience provides aspiring educators with hands-on teaching experience, personalized mentorship, and exposure to diverse learning environments as they build the skills and confidence needed to lead their own classrooms.
Who This Is For
- University teacher candidates
- Certification program participants completing clinical practice

- Co-teach with an experienced Cooperating Teacher

- Support daily classroom instruction
- Practice classroom management strategies
- Gradually take on full teaching responsibility

Please note: FBISD only accepts Student Teachers from approved EPPs with which the district has an established partnership.

If your Educator Preparation Program (EPP) is not listed on our Partnership list, we encourage you to reach out to your university's field experience or clinical placement office. Fort Bend ISD only accepts student teachers and teacher residents from EPPs with whom we have an active partnership.
What Comes Next
After completing Student Teaching, many candidates transition into:
- Become a Teacher of Record (fully responsible for your own classroom) in FBISD.
- Continue growing with ongoing support and development
