Parent/Guardian Library Access Tools

New legislation in Texas provides parents and guardians with greater transparency and control over the library materials available to their children.

The law also prohibits the purchase of library materials considered harmful, indecent or profane based on community standards and requires school board approval for all library books after a public listing period.  

Parents have the right to access library catalogs, review materials their children check out and submit lists of books their children are not permitted to access through the Guardian Engagement platform.

How to Access Guardian Engagement

The week of October 1, 2025, parents/guardians should have received two emails from smtp.tlc@fortbendisd.gov. After that point, please email tara.hoopes@fortbendisd.gov to get your system ID and PIN number.  

1. One email will include your System ID.
2. A second email will include your PIN Number.
