⛔ Zero Tolerance for Intentional Damage Intentional damage is not considered accidental and is not covered under EQUIPPED laptop insurance.
⚠️ Safety Alert: If a device smokes, sparks, overheats, or emits a burning odor, stop using it immediately and do not power it back on. Turn the device in to campus staff or the campus technician.
➤ Safety and Student Conduct Violations
Intentional damage, misuse, or unauthorized tampering with a district-issued laptop poses a serious safety risk and will be treated as:
- Intentional damage to district property, not normal wear and tear.
- A potential safety hazard.
- A behavioral and disciplinary incident, not solely a device repair matter.
➤ Insurance and Financial Responsibility
- Laptop insurance does NOT cover intentional or willful damage.
- The student remains financially responsible even if insurance was purchased.
- The full replacement cost of $560 may be assessed.
- A replacement laptop will NOT be issued until the charge has been paid in full.
- The incident must be reported to campus administration (AP) for safety review and disciplinary follow-up.
