GPA for the class of 2023 and Beyond
Any student entering 9th grade in 2019-20 and after shall have all courses weighted as follows:

When a college or scholarship application requires the 100-point scale, the cumulative GPA shall be converted to a 4-point scal e. The following is the conversion used for the weighted 4-point scale:

Class Rank Updates
The District shall provide to each student notice of the student's percentile/quartile and class rank containing the student's specific numerical rank out of the specific total class size as determined the day rank is run as outlined in administrative procedures. The class rank and percentile/quartile for a graduating student shall not be officially reported on the student's transcript. These notices shall be provided, January of 11th grade year, June following the 11th grade year, September of the 12th grade year, January of the 12th grade year and January of 10th grade year.
Note for Class of 2019 and Beyond – New Honor Rank Criteria
The Class of 2019 will be the first to graduate under the 100 Point GPA scale. During this policy revision in August 2014, the FBISD Board of Trustees approved a new Honor Rank criteria that took affect with the graduating class of 2019. Previously, FBISD students who were in the top five percent of their class graduated Magna Cum Laude; students whose class rank fell within the next ten percent graduated Cum Laude.
Beginning in the spring of 2019 and going forward, the new Honor Rank system will include a new category, Summa Cum Laude, in addition to Valedictorian, Salutatorian, Magna Cum Laude and Cum Laude. The new criteria is based on a student’s GPA, rather than where they fall within the percentage of their class.
To be eligible for graduation with honors, a student must meet the following requirements:
- Valedictorian Highest Cumulative GPA
- Salutatorian Second Highest Cumulative GPA
- Summa Cum Laude GPA = 97 or higher
- Magna Cum Laude GPA = 96–93
- Cum Laude GPA = 92–90
- Not have withdrawn from an elective District program, e.g. an academy, and enrolled at the student’s zoned campus within the four consecutive semesters immediately preceding graduation.
- Not have withdrawn from a campus where the student attended on a transfer and enrolled at the student’s zoned campus within the four consecutive semesters immediately preceding graduation.
- Not have transferred from the student’s zoned campus to another campus within the four consecutive semesters immediately preceding graduation.
- Meet additional eligibility requirements for valedictorian and salutatorian (top honors), requiring completion in no fewer than eight semesters, and continuous enrollment in the same high school in the District for the four semesters immediately preceding graduation.
