Become a Mentor in 3 Easy Steps!

The UPLIFT Mentor Program is now welcoming Fort Bend ISD staff and community members to mentor students during the 2025–2026 school year. Mentors meet with students once a week for 30-45 minutes during the school hours. 

How to Get Started

1. Complete the Mentor Interest Form
2. Submit the Volunteer Criminal History Application (after July 1)
3. Attend Mentor Training
   (You’ll receive an invitation after submitting your interest form.)

Why Mentoring Matters

Research shows that students with mentors are:

• 52% less likely to skip school
• 78% more likely to volunteer
• 130% more likely to hold leadership roles

Mentoring Models

Fort Bend ISD offers three ways to mentor:

1. Community to Student

Trained community members are matched with students across all grade levels to provide support based on campus needs.

2. District to Student

FBISD employees mentor students to support social-emotional growth and literacy, in collaboration with campus teams.

3. Peer-to-Peer

• High school upperclassmen mentor freshmen
• Middle school 8th graders mentor 6th graders
  Focus areas include emotional wellness, decision-making, and smooth grade-level transitions.
