Fort Bend ISD Whole Child Health Student Mental Health Supports

The image is a visual representation of the mental health supports available within the FBISD (Fort Bend Independent School District) system, including therapists, social workers, and campus counselors, all aimed at supporting and developing the mental, behavioral, social, emotional, and physical health of students.

FBISD Campus Counselors

Students should visit their school counselor if they are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or simply need someone to talk to. Your counselor is there to listen, support, and help connect you with the right resources. In addition to your school counselor, FBISD offers a variety of mental health services available on every campus. These services are designed to support your emotional well-being and help you thrive both in and out of the classroom. Whether you're facing personal challenges, academic pressure, or just need a safe space, there are caring professionals ready to help. Taking that first step can make a big difference, your mental health matters, and we’re here for you.

FBISD Social Workers

School Social Workers provide direct counseling and social work services to all Fort Bend Independent School District campuses. Social work services are oriented toward helping students make satisfactory school adjustments and to coordinate the efforts of home, school, and community to achieve this goal.

FBISD Mental Health Therapists

Mental Health Therapists provide mental health support and services across all campuses in the district, helping students navigate challenges and build resilience.  FBISD mental health therapists are all Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) and are able to provide services in English and Spanish.  Please see your school counselor for more information.

FBISD Mental Health Partners

Clearhope Counseling

Another FBISD partner, Clearhope Counseling & Wellness Center, exists to remove access barriers to high-quality mental health services in the Greater Houston area.  As a driving part of this vision, Clearhope accepts all major insurances including Medicaid and Medicare (normal co-pays apply) and has tele-therapy options during this COVID-19 event.  Clearhope founder Heather Lambert, a 17-year veteran teacher, school counselor, and administrator, is driven by the missional belief that “No one should hurt alone.”  The Clearhope Team takes a client-centered, collaborative approach to providing expert mental health services conducted by fully licensed LPCs, LMFTs, and LCSWs.  The Clearhope Team is a diverse group of clinical experts who care deeply for the mental health and wellness of their clients and communities.  Clearhope has offices in Pasadena, Sugar Land, and Summerwood (FALL 2020).  Make an appointment and/or learn more about The Clearhope Team here:  https://www.clearhopewellness.com/about-us

DePelchin Children's Center

DePelchin Children’s Center supports and sustains children and the families who care for them. Some of our programs, such as parenting classes and counseling, preserve and strengthen families. Other services, such as foster care and adoption, ensure children have the care and support they need to overcome trauma, both now and in the future. Our work is driven by our belief that all children should be part of safe, loving homes. DePelchin has been serving children and families in the Houston area since our founding in 1892. Our programs and services have evolved throughout our history, but our commitment to helping children has never changed. Today, we also provide services in and around Austin, Lubbock, and San Antonio, and we gratefully receive support from individuals, foundations, corporations, and government grants. https://www.depelchin.org/

Grief Resources

According to the Grief Handbook for Teens (click link below), "Grief is a normal and natural response to loss. And, loss is something that you feel when there is a separation from something or someone that you care about. There are many kinds of grief and loss that we face every day. You may experience grief when a pet dies, when a friend moves away, or if your parents divorce. You may feel a loss when you have to change schools, or when you and your boyfriend or girlfriend break up. And there is grief when someone you love dies."  These feelings can be really hard to deal with alone.  It is important that you find one person whom you feel safe to share your thoughts and feelings.  This could be a friend, a parent, a teacher, counselor, or anyone else you trust. Check out the online resources below for some creative ideas to help you manage your grief.
