Aquatic Facilities

The Fort Bend Independent School District offers competitive and instructional aquatic programs at two campus locations. The Don Cook Natatorium, dedicated in October of 1998, is the first indoor 50-meter pool in the Houston area, and is home to multiple championship caliber events, including UIL, TAPPS, TISCA, USA Swimming, water polo, synchronized swimming, diving, American Red Cross, Special Olympics, YMCA, Masters, summer league, Extended Day, and triathlons – with new ideas coming all the time. With 11 high schools in FBISD, where do all the aquatic programs fit? The first step to alleviate the crowding, and District transportation costs, was to build the FBISD Aquatic Practice Facility. Opened in May of 2011 with much anticipation, it is a totally unique design in the Houston area. An indoor pool without any forced mechanical air. This “Shade-and-a-Breeze” technology proved to be a significant costs savings over traditional indoor pools while providing more than adequate facilities for lessons, meets, and events.
