Integrity and Behavior

Academy students are held to high standards of character, conduct, and academic honesty. Violations of the Academic Integrity Policy include, but are not limited to, cheating, plagiarism, fabrication of information, unauthorized collaboration, and any other form of academic dishonesty.

Academic Integrity Violations

·         1st Offense – Formal warning and placement on academic integrity probation for one academic year, beginning on the date of the offense.

·         2nd Offense – Removal from the academy.

·         Subsequent Offenses (After Probation Period) – Repeated violations after the probation period will be reviewed by the Academy Committee and may result in removal from the academy.

*Students who are not zoned to the academy’s host campus will return to their designated home campus upon removal.

Academy students are expected to maintain exemplary conduct. Discipline referrals resulting in In-School Suspension (ISS) or Out-of-School Suspension (OSS) will be handled as follows:

In-School Suspension (ISS) Consequences

·         1st Offense – Warning.

·         2nd Offense – Placed on probation for one academic year.

·         3rd Offense – Discretionary removal from the academy at the end of the semester, pending review by the Academy Review Committee.

·         4th Offense – Mandatory removal from the academy at the end of the current semester.

Out-of-School Suspension (OSS) Consequences

·         1st Offense – Placed on probation for one academic year.

·         2nd Offense – Discretionary removal from the academy at the end of the semester, pending review by the Academy Review Committee.

·         3rd Offense – Mandatory removal from the academy at the end of the current semester.

Cumulative ISS/OSS Referrals

·         Three (3) or more total ISS/OSS offenses – Subject to discretionary removal at the end of the semester.

·         Four (4) or more total ISS/OSS offenses – Mandatory removal from the academy at the end of the current semester.

District Alternative Education Placement (DAEP)

·         Any referral resulting in placement in the District Alternative Education Placement (DAEP) will result in immediate removal from the academy.

*Students who are not zoned to the academy’s host campus will return to their designated home campus upon removal.

• Probation: A student is placed on probation when they do not meet one or more academy requirements. Parent/guardian and student will receive formal notification.
• Dismissal: Students who do not meet academy requirements may be dismissed from the program and returned to their zoned campus. All dismissal cases are reviewed by the Academy Review Committee before a final decision is made.
• Academy Review Committee: The committee is composed of the Academy Program Managers, the Program Director, and Campus Administrators.
